As I type, Lilly is sleeping like a baby (whatever that means??) From this fall until now, I could rarely ever lay her down without having her wake up. I could talk, move around, type, watch TV, go to the bathroom (yes, I have done it), eat, you name it........and she'd stay asleep. The minute I'd lay her down, she'd start crying 90% of the time. That got to be exhausting, but what do you do-just figure it out the best you can. I had a friend say I'm spoiling her for not do the whole let her cry business. For the limited time I can be with her every day, there's no way I'm going to let her cry without trying to do something. Spoiled? I don't think so. They'll be plenty of time to let her scream when she throws her toddler tantrums. For now, I lay her down ever so slowly and raise my hands in the "ta dah" look what I did, victory dance when she doesn't wake up. So what does a mom do with time on her hands, write about the baby, of course.
"Ello, hi, ello!!" Lilly loves to talk on the phone. Her very favorite toy of all time is Al's old cell phone. Al had it when she was born so there's even a picture of her as a newborn on it. We charge it up (although the battery doesn't last long) and put it in airport mode so she can't call anyone. She crawls around with it around the house and screams if you try to take it away. I wonder why she's so obsessed with her cell phone? Where could she have learned this? :-)
We've been playing the "stand up game." She stands and I count how many Mississippi's it takes before she falls down. She could stand up for longer than she does, but it's more fun to fall and have mama catch her. She was standing as she was watching her favorite show, Lawrence Welk (surprisingly like Barney minus the purple dinosaur), and stood there for about a minute before she fell down. She's getting good at walking along furniture so I'm assuming steps will be coming soon.......but like my grandma Eva used say, they have their whole lives to walk (which turned into don't be in a hurry to get married-a progressive lady she was)
She knows the signs "all done" and "more." I don't know that she quite gets the concept totally, but it's really fun to see her learn them. She's so proud of herself.
I can't wait for June so I can be home with her-sleep in, go to the park, go swimming, play in the back yard, ride bike (notice sleep in is first). I am SO excited for a fun summer. Last year having a newborn + no migraine meds puts a damper on things and the summer before being pregnant with morning sickness and migraines wasn't the greatest either. 32 days of school left but who's counting???
........and she's up.......The end

You are totally not spoiling her! I held both boys when they cried and held Ethan when he slept until he was over two. I don't regret it a bit! I actualy miss those days. There is nothing more relaxing than holding a sleeping baby. She has her whole life to sleep without mama. I am glad Al and Lilly share the same favorite show!
