Her tooth is the biggest news this month. Lately she's been trying to put my face in her mouth but settles for a little nibble on my cheek or chin. I don't mind but I have to draw the line when she tries to gnaw on my lip (She'd chew on my tongue if I'd let her). Lilly has also been much more interested in toys lately. There is one rattle that she gets so wild with we have to take it away after a few minutes. She swings it around so much that she cries when she wacks herself in the face. She's been making new sounds, too. There's the cooing/gurgling sound and the ever-popular Darth Vadar/choking sound that scared me when she first did it. She's been rolling up a storm and doesn't stay where I put her anymore (I know, we're in for it soon). Lilly has also learned to chew on her toes and likes to pull of her socks. That means there's drool tipped socks floating around the house, car, grocery store, and Target. Today I ran an experiment and put two different shoes on her to see if that helped keep her socks on. One shoe was off in less than five minutes but the other seemed to stay on. At least she's still entertained by something as simple as her feet.
Lilly is also able to sit given support and stay sitting when her back is up against the couch (for a minute or so, anyway). She's working on sitting up (getting close) and so is mama. Hopefully, I'll win, but it'll be close!
The picture was from a few weeks ago. I'm back on my migraine medication (sorry Lilly) so hopefully my weekends won't be spent laying on the floor next to my sort of sleeping baby. The medication couldn't have come at a better time because I have lots of wild children at school and will soon have six paras to oversee to take care of all my little honeys. I can't say it's easy balancing work and motherhood, but I am getting used to it and getting into the routine. At least I'll know what to do when she's a toddler and throws tantrums!
I'd like to give you a report on her height/weight but I just finally remembered to make a Dr's appointment for her. It's like I don't have a lunch break or something (well, unless you count pawning off a little honey on another teacher so I can run up and pump then run down and heat up my lunch to eat while I teach--but my sixth para will start soon so hopefully I'll have a lunch break soon!) Let's just say I know she's getting bigger because she'll be wearing 6-9 month clothes this week. Things are busy. Time flies. I just hope I can take time to soak it all in. There will always be wild children and unhappy parents but Lilly will only be a baby once. That's what I try to tell myself every day.
Happy half birthday, Lilly.
