Words

Lilly's starting to say quite a few words. Says some more than others--some she just repeats and some she really knows well.

"No"-doesn't every kid learn that one as one of the first? She will do something she knows she shouldn't (like stand on the chair of the couch) and say "no, no" as she's doing it.

"I" or "ello" for hi/hello

"Mama" If Al had a contribution to the blog, it would be this story because he thinks it is SO funny! He's been trying to teach Lilly his sign for mama off and on for quite a while...and last night all the lessons paid off. Lilly was doing the sign for milk-(make a hand motion like milking a cow, which I didn't teach her intentionally because I didn't want to be associated with a cow) while she says mama. Thanks, Al.

"Dada" I tried to teach Lilly an inappropriate sign for Dada (see above) but it turns out that babies aren't that coordinated.

"At" for hat-so fun to say, no fun to wear

"Dog, dog"

"Ts, Ts" for shoes, cheese, and chair--Lilly points out the shoes she sees all day long.

"Upuh" for up

"Apuh" for apple and watermellon--She LOVES watermellon! We had a watermellon that was cut up-but turned out to be bad & we just had'nt throw it away yet. I got a call from Al when I was at the store. Lilly kept saying "apuh, apuh, apuh" and was crushed when she couldn't have any.

"Hop, hop" or "hopuh hopuh hopuh" for bunny

"ot" for hot--She learned this outside by Daddy's grill. We'll soon have a fence!

"Lowah".--Lilly learned how to say Auntie Lora's name after she came to visit over the 4th. She now has regular conversations talking with "Lowah" on her hand. Sometimes she passes her hand to me so I can talk to "Lowah," too.

"Teetah"--for Tito. I hate to say it, but she learned how to say his name before saying Lora.

"Bumpah" for Grandpa--Whenever I try to get her to say Grandma, she says "mama" or lately "hat." Hat is a lot easier to say than Grandma

"Pottie"-She says some version of this, but I can't remember exactly what. She comes to the pottie with me most of the time (prevents screaming) so hears the word quite a bit.

"Bah"--not a word exactly but she says "bah" instead of the more traditional "mah" as she gives kisses. I get "bahs" on a regular basis and so do Lilly's stuffed animal "hop hop's" and "dog dogs"

"Ni, Ni"--for night, night. She loves to play night night, where Al lays on the floor & pretends to sleep and Lilly wakes him up. Al actually was sleeping the other night. Lilly woke him up so gently by hitting him in the face and saying "iiiiii, da da!" Within a few days time, I got woken up by a "bah" and by Lilly pulling my hair.

"Mo" for more

That's all for now.
