10 Months +

Sharing--All parents want their kids to learn to share but.... Lilly shared her stomach flu with mom and dad this week. Sick baby + sick mom = no fun. Dads can still be sick but not moms. After a week of Lilly being sick off and on, we took her to the Dr. Since she developed a fever later into the week, he was worried about a bladder infection. They had to use a catheter to get a urine sample, which was absolutely not pleasant for anyone. Poor baby. Turns out she just has a stomach virus and there's nothing to do besides wait it out. Her glucose levels were low so the Dr. says the remedy for that is watered down Gatorade (like pedialite, I was with him), popsicles (well, OK, if it will make her feel better I'm sure it will be fine for one time), watered down POP!!! (there I had to draw the line). "Is there a reason why I just can't give her breast milk?" He apologized that he didn't ask if I was nursing first and said that would be good. We'll hold off on the Mellow Yellow for a while yet.

Moving around--Being sick slowed her down for a while but Lilly can really go where she wants now. That's a scary thought. We're on baby proofing stage three around here. Lilly has learned to do the army crawl. She pulls with her arms and pushes off with her feet. It almost looks like she's swimming on the carpet. She can go from her stomach back to sitting and pull up on the furniture.

Waving--Lilly has the waving game down by this point. I caught her on video doing the cutest Miss America wave last night as she was sitting in her rocking chair. She loves to look in the mirror with daddy, smile, and wave. I had the webcam on Lilly while I was talking on the computer with Lora. I was laying on the floor while Lilly played. Lilly pushed on my shoulder up to standing, held on with one hand, turned around, then looked up/smiled/waved to Auntie Lora on the computer monitor on top of the desk.

Talking?--She says "momomomom", "dadadada", "guh", etc. Depending on who she's talking to, she's either saying mom, dad, or, a bit of a stretch, "grandma." When we say clap without demonstrating, Lilly can do it. She also shakes her head no when we say nooooo. I'm sure we'll be glad we taught her how to say no in a year or so. :-) Lilly just loves to shake her head back and forth. I think it started when I would stand her up, hold on to her hands, and sing "Come on Baby, Let's do the Twist." She loves it! Her head shakes back and forth. I think she likes to see the world spinning around her.

Remote--Lilly's favorite toy is the remote. We usually don't let her play with it too much but sick babies really can do whatever they want. She must be an Ashton Kutcher fan because she somehow set the DVR to do a serial recording for Punk'd. Al told me that before I got home from work one day, she turned the volume way up and started crying. She even found some feature to make a favorite 10 channel list. Now Al is searching for the user guide to figure out which button she pushed so he can figure out how to do it.

My baby is getting closer to being a little girl. Soon she'll be a year old...........
